Kolkata: As BJP surges toward a landslide victory in West Bengal assembly elections, with trends showing the party leading on 190 out of 293 seats, the party headquarters has issued a clear directive to its workers — stay restrained and avoid any confrontation with TMC workers.

BJP’s Warning to Its Own Workers

With TMC trailing on just 88 seats, BJP workers across Bengal have broken into celebrations. However, amid the festive mood, BJP headquarters has instructed workers not to march toward TMC workers’ homes or raise victory slogans outside their residences.

Celebrate at Party Office, Not on Opposition’s Doorstep

The party has asked its workers to confine all victory celebrations to BJP offices only. The leadership does not want any negative incident to overshadow the historic win. There are concerns that workers frustrated by 15 years of TMC rule may get carried away and cause disturbances outside TMC workers’ homes.

Why BJP Is Being Cautious

Such confrontations could spark clashes and turn violent — a pattern that has historical precedent in Bengal’s politics. BJP is keen not to give TMC any opportunity to shift the narrative. The party has explicitly asked its workers to exercise self-control and maintain discipline during the celebrations.
