Gurugram, Dec 19: Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Tomar on Sunday said that BJP will retain power in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand where elections are due next year.

After attending the BJP Kisan Morcha’s national executive meeting, he said that decisions were taken for the growth of farmers.

“We have always worked for the betterment of farmers and spoken about their interest,” said Narendra Tomar.

“There were decisions taken in the Kisan Morcha’s meeting for the growth of farmers. ‘Vijay Sankalp Yatra’ is going in UP and Uttarakhand & we are focusing on it. BJP will make govt in respective states where elections will be held,”  Union Agriculture Minister added.

Talking about the Farm laws, the Union Minister said, “Farm laws were brought for the betterment of the farmers. India has seen that PM Narendra Modi added various dimensions in the field of farming. Kisan Morcha should play its role in taking forward natural farming system and work in this direction.”

On the impact of farmers’ protests on the upcoming elections, he claimed,  “There will be no major impact on the party across the country and even in five poll-bound states- Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Manipur and Goa. The party will mark victory in these states.”

Notably, the assembly polls in these states are slated to be held in February-March next year.
