Ranchi, Aug.3: BJP’s Panki legislator Kushwaha Shashibhushan Mehta today asked Congress MLA Irfan Ansari to seek apology holding ears for the latter’s derogatory remarks against tribals in the house day before yesterday.
Mehta did not stop here. He went on threatening Ansari of taking befitting action in case the latter refuses to seek an apology in the house.
“Kaan Pakad Kar Maafi Mange…..Nahi to Hum inki Aisi Ki Taisi Kar Denge…,” Mehta warned.
Saying this Mehta went in the well of the House and started creating ruckus. With this development, the House got disturbed and other BJP legislators accompanied him.
Referring to BJP state chief Babulal Marandi, Ansari had remarked in the House, “…Ek Adivasi itna tez kaise ho sakta hai? (How can a tribal be so intelligent?).
Amid disturbance, BJP legislator Anant Ojha also alleged JMM led I-N-D-I-A government of giving false statement in the House saying the government has kept land report of 8.49 lakh farmers pending and, instead, alleges the union government of holding their relief amount. He referred the government’s reply in the matter and alleged the JMM government of shedding crocodile tears in the name of farmers’ relief.
A few minutes after observing the ruckus, Speaker Rabindranath Mahto lost his cool and asked the marshals to intervene. He also passed negative comments on Mehta saying the latter’s behaviour is unruly and not maintaining the decorum of the House.
Later, Ansari also stood up and sought apology saying his intention was not to humiliate tribals. He claimed to be the biggest well-wisher of tribals and is concerned about what happened with tribals in Madhya Pradesh and Manipur. He said though his statement was expunged from the assembly proceedings, it was spread by the BJP.
However, Irfan’s statement did not help bring any change in the House. Observing the chaotic situation, the Speaker adjourned the proceedings till 12 noon.
After the proceedings again started at 12 noon, the House did not come in order. The ruling party legislators were also offensive this time. Congress MLA Pradeep Yadav, parliamentary affairs minister Alamgir Alam and drinking water and sanitation department minister Mithilesh Thakur launched a counter attack on the BJP legislators asking them to seek apology in the House for humiliation of tribals in Madhya Pradesh and Manipur.
Sensing the gravity of the situation, the Speaker adjourned the house till 2pm.
