Deoghar, Aug 26: The dead body of a woman was kept at the house for 50 hours after her death by her husband due to hopes of resurrecting her through exorcisms.
The story is of the Bara tola of Banjhedih village under Mohanpur block under Mohanpur police station area in Deoghar, where, a woman Manu Hasda, wife of Shiv Narayn Kisku died of a snake bite late Tuesday night.
She was brought to the Sadar Hospital on Wednesday morning, but was declared dead on arrival. The family of the deceased then took her body home without a post mortem.
However, instead of preparing for the last rites, Kisku urged that his wife would wake up after exorcisms. He even kept the body of his wife for fifty hours, without cremation and performed superstitious ceremonies in hopes of ‘waking her up’.
As per information, the local mukhiya Pandav Kapari later persuaded the family members to get Hansda’s body a post mortem, so that the family could avail the benefits through the scheme to help family members of persons that die of snake bites. However, the family denied.
