Dhanbad, Sept 14: Police have taken a senior teacher of RVS College Chas (Bokaro) Dr Uday Kumar Singh in custody allegedly for sending explicit photos to a girl student of the institution.

As per the allegation of a PG student of the college, Dr Uday Kumar Singh had sent an explicit photo on her mobile on  September 11 evening.

On getting information, the family members of the girl along with a mob of over 200 locals stormed the college on Tuesday and thrashed Dr Singh in the teachers’ room for alleged misconduct. The teachers and principal-in-charge of the college Dr Bindo Singh rescued Dr Uday Kumar Singh from the unruly mob.

The student belongs to the ST class. She alleged that the professor used to tease her in college by raising inappropriate topics. Dr Uday Kumar Singh (1986 batch) is the senior most teacher in the psychology department. The victim student is also of the same faculty.

On being informed by the college administration, Sector-12 police also reached the institution and took away the accused teacher for his safety.

Dr Uday Kumar Singh denied the allegation of the girl student and said that he has been framed for no fault.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (city) Kuldeep Kumar told the media that the accused teacher has been taken into custody for interrogation. An FIR would be lodged only after taking the statement of the victim student. “Police are also taking help of cyber cell to verify the WhatsApp photo allegedly sent by professor of the college,” he said.

Meanwhile, teachers of the college have strongly condemned the brutal assault of Dr Uday Kumar Singh in the institution by the mob. A delegation of college teachers met a senior police officer today and requested him to conduct a proper probe before lodging an FIR.
