Ranchi, Oct 29: Deepak Kumar Upadhyay, national president of Sarvbhaum Shakadwipya Brahmin Mahasabha, vehemently disagreed with former Baghmara MLA Jaleshwar Mahato’s assertion that members of the Brahmin community are responsible for the trade in cows taking place in the nation.

According to Upadhyay, Mahato’s attempts to degrade the Brahmin community are not excused. The growth of malice and caste prejudice in society is attributable to ideological leaders like Mahato.

Upadhyay said that though the entire country knows about the people and their religion involved in the business of cattle and beef, Mahato has no courage to speak against them. He said that right now there is an atmosphere of Chhath festival all around and Brahmin society is the biggest patron of this festival. He said it is Brahmin who has taught the whole society the lesson of worshiping the sun. Even today, the entire Brahmin society is committed to protect religion, culture and spirituality.

Upadhyay said that the Brahmin society, which has shown the path of religion, spirituality and goodwill to the society, has been considered the weakest among weakest in present days but everyone thinks that they can speak anything against the society and go scot free.

He said that the federation not only condemns this statement of Mahato, but also demands from the National President and State President of the Congress Party to expel him from the party immediately. He said until Mahato seeks public apology from the Brahmin community for his hateful mentality statement and takes it back, Sabha will be bound to take legal action against him.

Upadhyay also appealed to the Brahmin community not to participate in any family, social and family program of Mahato, the leader who made this disgusting statement.

Meanwhile, senior JMM leader Supriyo Bhattacharya also did not support the statement of Mahato saying one should not speak anything which hurts the sentiment of others.

BJP Parliamentarian Nishikant Dubey echoed Mahasabha saying Mahato is targeting Brahmins by calling them kasai (butchers) because Rahul Gandhi claims himself as sacred thread carrying Brahmin.
