Ranchi, April 18: On the lines of the country’s major airports, Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Airport will also get top-notch facilities on the premises where many brand outlets will be opened soon.
For making the airport premises filled with different kinds of branded shops, the airport management has started the preparations.
Airport Director Vinod Sharma said that now the 20 shops in the airport will not be given to any individual, but all the shops of the entire terminal building will be given to any one person or company, who will allot different people.
“During the Corona period, all the shops inside the terminal building, including restaurants, snacks, bars, bookstalls, were closed. Now the airport management has floated tenders for all the shops in the entire terminal building. All the shops in the entire terminal will be given to any one person or company at once. Where in the coming days, passengers will get the facility of branded companies outlets, food and beverage service, gift items, restaurants, artificial jewellery shop and many others,” Vinod added.
Every day, thousands of passengers fly from Birsa Munda Airport to Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Patna, and Bangalore. In case passengers leave the house without having breakfast or lunch in a hurry, then while waiting at the airport, they don’t get food. Most passengers boarding connecting flights had to suffer because the restaurant in Birsa Munda airport lounge is closed for the past two years.
The arrangement which was going on till now used to cause a lot of trouble to the passenger, now after giving shops to a new agency, all kinds of facilities will be available here.
According to the earlier arrangement at the airport, all the shops were allotted to different people. The problem in this was that people used to close the shop when it was not running. On the other hand, branded shops were not opening by giving shop to one person because All the people who got shops here were local people who used to own the shops. But now in the new system, all the shops will be outsourced to one agency. Now it will be all the responsibility of the agency whether it will run the shops itself or allot it to other people.
The airport management was also facing problems due to the allotment of individual shops as all the shops could not be allotted at once. Some shops were allotted and some remained vacant. For many years, there was no one to take that shop. So, this time the airport management is working on a plan to allot all 20 shops together.
