Jamshedpur, June 15: A budding transporter, Harshavardhan Singh, committed suicide by hanging at his residential flat in Mango in the wee hours on Wednesday.
The suicide by the transporter, who was also known as W Singh, has sent a shock wave across the steel city he was leading a very vibrant life and has left no clue to the reason behind this drastic step.
Besides carrying out his transport business, Harshavardhan (43) was actively involved in the BJP and till recently he was vice president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha’s state unit.
Harshavardhan was all right till midnight but his body was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his room on Wednesday morning.
The police, however, confirmed it to be a case of suicide, but could not say anything about the reason behind it.
“As per some family member Harshavardhan was in a jolly mood till midnight like he would live usually, but in the morning, here was found hangs from the ceiling fan in the morning, ” said Nitesh Gupta, OC, Mango thana.
The OC said the transporter’s widow and others in the family cast some light on the reason behind the suicide but they all wailing and not in a condition to speak. He pointed out that there must be some reason behind the suicide and it could be known when normally returns to the bereaved family members.
According to a relative, Harshavardhan was in a good frame of mind yesterday and had even accompanied the family members to Chandil dam for an outing.
“There is no apparent reason behind Harshavardhan’s suicide. We are awfully shocked because despite being in a perfect frame of mind till midnight, he committed suicide suddenly,” said the relative,
Police have recovered the body and sent it to the MGM medical college mortuary for postmortem.
