Nuh, August 5: The Haryana government continued its “bulldozer action” and demolished a number of buildings in Tauru, which is roughly 20 kilometers away from the violently disturbed Nuh on Saturday. The local disturbances on July 31 involved people who lived in these “illegal” establishments, according to the authorities.

Manohar Lal Khattar, the chief minister of Haryana, had ordered the demolition drive, according to Nuh’s SDM Ashwini Kumar.

“This is on the orders of the CM. All of this is illegal construction. These people were involved in the riots,” Kumar said.

Illegal encroachment by immigrants who were there illegally was also destroyed on Friday. Early this morning, buildings and shanties next to the SKM Government Medical College in Nuh were destroyed.

The Haryana Urban Development Authority oversaw the demolition campaign.  The authorities destroyed unlawful encroachments right in front of the hospital on the route to the Nalhar temple earlier today.

In order to stop any unfavourable developments, the demolition drive took place amid a significant police presence.

The Nuh administration hasn’t made any official statements about the bulldozer operation, though. Officials on the scene said that the area where unlawful encroachments were located was being cleared and they made no connection between the demolition campaign and the recent community tensions in the area.

Bulldozers were deployed at four different areas in Tauru on Friday prior to this.

Roughly 40 shops are being razed because they are unlawful, according to officials. Additionally, this is where vehicles were set on fire and people threw stones at each other on July 31 when racial tensions rose in Nuh and the adjoining areas.

In the meantime, curfews under Section 144  in Nuh are still in effect today, with certain relaxation for locals.
