New Delhi, Sept 18: Supporters of Amanatullah Khan, an MLA for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), have been charged by the Delhi Police with impeding their ability to carry out their duties. The perpetrators of manhandling are being found.

During searches of Amanatullah Khan’s Jamia Nagar home on September 16, supporters of the AAP MLA assaulted a member of the Anti-Corruption Bureau.

Amanatullah Khan, an AAP lawmaker, was detained by the Anti-Corruption Bureau on Friday in connection with the corruption case involving the Delhi Waqf Board due to the discovery of incriminating information and evidence against him during searches.

At one of the places, a weapon was discovered. The MLA was unable to produce a licence for the recovered weapons (Berreta pistol). After the ACB searched four premises connected to Mr. Khan and his business partner, where cash and firearms were found, the AAP MLA was taken into custody.

Two illegal firearms and a total of 24 lakh rupees in cash, according to the officials, were found.

The AAP MLA’s assistants Hamid Ali and Kausar Imam Siddique were the targets of two FIRs filed by the South East District Police, and a third FIR was filed against them for impeding the ACB raid party’s ability to carry out its official duties.

Amanatullah Khan had been called before the ACB in relation to the matter involving financial theft and other irregularities in the operation of the Delhi Waqf Board.
