Ranchi, Aug.11: CBI special judge S.K.Shashi turned down the request of Lalu Prasad’s lawyer for adjournment of hearing in the biggest fodder scam case involving Rs 139.35 crore of Doranda treasury till the beginning of the physical court.
The request was made through a petition filed on August 8 saying that the case is in an argument stage and it is difficult to argue in a serious matter in a virtual court. The court had deferred the hearing till today asking the CBI to file a counter affidavit in the matter.
After the CBI filed an affidavit saying the investigating agency has already completed its argument in the matter in virtual mode and deferring the matter till the beginning of physical mode is not justified.
The number of the case is 47A/96. The number of accused in the case is 78. The list of accused includes RJD chief Lalu Prasad, former parliamentarian Jagdish Sharma besides Dr R.K.Rana, the then chairman of public accounts committee, Dhruv Bhagat besides officials of the animal husbandry department. All have filed petitions to this effect.
One of the defence lawyers A.K.Mitra informed this.
