Ranchi, Oct.1: The CBI investigating police sub-inspector Rupa Tirkey death case does not consider a mobile message sent from the mobile phone of the deceased as a suicide note and is looking for the diary beside an open pen on the deceased’s bed which was noticed at the spot but not mentioned in seizure list prepared by police.
Sources close to the CBI said the apex agency believes that anyone can send messages using mobile phones under a high-level conspiracy.
Earlier, the mobile message, which purported to be sent by Tirkey before her ‘suicide’ to her batchmate, Shiv Kanaujia, was being considered as a suicide note and Jharkhand police had almost concluded that Tirkey had committed suicide after sending a suicide note through SMS.
Notably, on September 1, Jharkhand High Court ordered a CBI probe into the death of the sub-inspector while hearing a petition filed by the deceased’s father. The petition was filed on June 17 this year.
The petition arose after Rupa was found hanging at Sahibganj on May 3 and the matter hogged the limelight with a suspicion that she was provoked to commit suicide by someone close to the chief minister.
Police arrested Kanaujia in this connection saying he provoked her for suicide but very few bought the logic of police.
Common perception remained that someone high-profile was involved in the case and the government is trying to save him.
