Dhanbad, Jan 22: Forceful attempt to grab the playground of DAV Public School Sindri by a group of alleged social activists has triggered intervention of the central government in the matter.

School Education and Literacy Department, Government of India has asked Jharkhand School Education and Literacy Department for providing security to the DAV Public School students and ensuring construction of boundary wall of the playground.

Kamal Gandhi, additional secretary of School Education and Literacy Department in letter to principal secretary School Education and Literacy Department Jharkhand government has asked to take necessary action and inform the ministry about it.

“Though education falls in the concurrent list of constitutions and comes under jurisdiction of state subjects, you are requested to take necessary action on the basis of the letter and inform,” additional secretary Kamal Gandhi has said in his letter.

The Central government’s School Education and Literacy Department has intervened in the matter on the complaint of DAV Public School Sindri principal Ashutosh Kumar.

The Principal sent a complaint when despite recommendation of the district administration and management of Fertilizer Corporation of India, some alleged social activists of Sindri stopped the construction of the boundary wall of the school playground.

The school management had sought protection of students from district administration to fence the institution’s play ground as per directive of National Commission for Protection of Child Right (NCPCR).

The ground belongs to FCI Sindri which had been given to DAV School Society in 2002. Since the open ground exposes the safety of 5,000 students of the institution, the school management started covering the ground with a boundary wall last year.

Notably, SDM Dhanbad on the basis of the land paper, allowed the school to be covered with a boundary wall for the safety of students.

However, some people had declared it as a religious place and began organizing functions.

Having seen no response from the district administration, DAV Public School Sindri management reportedly complained to the central government’s education department.

Having seen trouble, the circle officer (CO) Baliapur block under which the area falls, has asked to maintain status quo on the ground.
