Ranchi, Oct.2: Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) will open Gandhi Study Centre on the university premises.
CUJ vice-chancellor (VC) Kshitij Bhusan Das declared this today while delivering his speech on the birth anniversary of the Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi and former prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.
VC Das said the purpose of the centre will be to make academic discussion on Gandhian thoughts possible. He said scholars promoting Gandhian philosophy will be called at the centre to ensure that they can become milestones in the conversion of the dream of Gandhi into reality.
Das on the occasion said Gandhi and Shastri are still relevant. He said Gandhi’s concept of ‘Sarvodaya’ and Shastri’s slogan of ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’ is an indication of self-reliance.
VC Das remembered Shastri for making India self-reliant in food production and Gandhi for his mission to reach the last man of the society. He said Gandhi’s concept of ‘Sarvodaya (development of all), Swablamban (self-reliance), Swadeshi (indigenous), Sadvabna (harmony)’ is relevant for the country.
