New Delhi, March 16: The defence Ministry approved proposals worth over Rs 70,000 crore for buying different weapon systems for the Indian defence forces. To support the government’s Aatmanirbhar (self-reliance) programme, all planned purchases fall under the Purchase (Indian-IDDM) category.

Providing further information on the clearances, sources stated that the 307 advanced towed artillery gun systems (ATAGS) for the Army have received an Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) from the Defence Acquisitions Council (DAC), which is presided over by the defence minister Rajnath Singh. The 155mm/52 calibre ATAGS was created by the DRDO with the help of Bharat Forge and Tata Advanced Systems as production partners.
