Mumbai, May 27: Union Home Ministry on Friday has asked a competent authority (the Finance Ministry) to take appropriate action against former NCB official Sameer Wankhede for his ‘shoddy investigation’ into the Mumbai cruise drugs bust involving Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan.

This comes after the NCB freed Aryan Khan in the drugs-on-cruise case on Friday, following the filing of a 6,000-page chargesheet by the central agency.

According to sources, the Centre is already taking action in the issue of Sameer Wankhede’s forged caste certificate. Nawab Malik, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), exposed Wankhede’s bogus caste certificate issue, and was later detained by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Last year, Nawab Malik accused Sameer Wankhede of forging his caste certificate to get into the civil service using a seat reserved for Scheduled Castes, claiming that Wankhede was born a Muslim but forged his caste certificate to get into the civil service using a seat reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC). Sameer Wankhede and his family, on the other hand, have denied the charges.

In October 2021, Sameer Wankhede, the NCB’s former zonal director for Mumbai, led a raid on the Cordelia cruise liner, arresting Aryan Khan and 22 others.
