Hazaribag, Nov 9: Police arrested 49 accused while lodging an FIR against 90 named and 300 unnamed persons after the villagers of Dahuri under Sadar police station in Chatra district took the law in hand and assaulted the police team along with tearing the uniform of an ASI as they were angry with the death of a labourer in a road mishap.
Chatra Superintendent of Police (SP) Rakesh Ranjan who visited Sadar hospital today to meet the injured jawans in the incident said those involved in it will not be spared.
After the death of the labourer, ASI Shashikant Thakur reached the spot and took the guilty driver in custody who hit his pickup van with the deceased’s bike. However, the villagers charged Thakur for conniving with the driver to set him free. This sparked anger and the villagers beat him mercilessly besides tearing his uniform.
