VIJAY DEO JHA
Ranchi, Nov 11: The court of Justice Sanjay Kumar Dwivedi of Jharkhand High Court granted bail to high court advocate Rajiv Kumar on Wednesday in the cash for PIL case which is being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate.
He has already received bail in this case from a local court in Kolkata which had originally lodged an FIR and arrested him along with Rs 50 Lakh cash on the complaint of Kolkata based businessman Amit Agarwal. He is currently lodged at Birsa Munda central jail. But he has to stay in jail as Jharkhand police secured his custody in other criminal cases related to land grabs.
Earlier, the special PMLA court of Prabhat Kumar Sharma had rejected his bail petition after which he moved to the Jharkhand High Court. In the cash for the PIL case, the ED booked him along with Amit Agrawal. He is accused of receiving Rs 50 Lakh cash from Amit Agrawal as a bribe to give him relief in the shell company related PIL. But Amit Agrawal has been booked as a prime accused and the ED stated that Amit Agrawal had a sinister design behind offering bribe to Rajiv Kumar. He wanted to vitiate the PIL to avoid any adverse order against him from the court. Amit Agrawal is also lodged at the Birsa Munda Central Jail.
