Hazaribag, Dec 20: The 1980 MW North Karanpura Thermal Power Plant of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) in Tandwa town in Chatra district achieved a big success when its 660MW first unit achieved full load on Tuesday morning.
This achievement has now confirmed the success of the final trial before the commissioning of the first unit. Moreover, the unit has achieved a load of 690.44MW, against the capacity of 660MW.
As per the information, the first unit said, “December 20 became a big day for them as at 7.47 am, the first unit achieved the full load. The total planned capacity of 1980 megawatts (MW) will consist of three units of 660MW. With the first unit achieving full load, a communique issued in this regard said that the team NTPC is ready to achieve the same success with the other two units.
Senior NTPC officers including Executive director A.K Goswami, Chief general manager Tajinder Gupta and others were present during the trial, encouraging the team for this milestone.
NTPC officials said, “They are hopeful of starting power production from the first unit by February. The third unit will get commissioned in Nov and the third at any time in 2024.
