Hazaribag, Dec 20: Spread over 50 acres and situated close to Chatra town, the famous Lakshmanpur Dam is going to get a makeover to attract tourists from all over the state. A Latehar-based agency has been selected to develop this picturesque spot into a tourist spot with the best facilities to woo people from other places too.
As per the concerned officials, the work related to its beautification is going on war foot to make it the first-of-its-kind tourist spot in Chatra by November 2023.
Sources said that the dam will have everything for people coming here right from the children’s park, boating facility, guest house, cafeteria, market complex, parking, and toilets to other facilities. Even a road leading to the dam will also be revamped.
Chatra Deputy Commissioner Abu Imran is monitoring this project. He recently visited to see the ongoing work in this regard. Even Chatra MP Sunil Kumar is keeping eye on this project and directed the agency to ensure quality work.
Locals said that these dam witnesses a huge footfall of tourists around new year’s day. “Its beautification will now make people of other places also visit here,” said Gopal Prasad, a teacher at a private school.
