Hazaribag, Dec 27: A special investigation team of Chatra police on Tuesday arrested seven extremists including a sub-zonal commander of Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee(TSPC) Anup from Piparwar.

The police team recovered one semi-automatic pistol, a country-made revolver, 23 bullets, Rs.98,000 cash, one bike, one SUV, party literature and a few electronic items.

The superintendent of police Rakesh Ranjan said seven were wanted in a recent firing case on a coal trader in Bahera of Piparwar. He even said coal traders, transporters and businessmen getting threats through WhatsApp calls and investigation had confirmed Anup’s hand. Anup is also known as Chotu Ram.

Ranjan said a special investigation team was constituted led by Tandwa sub-divisional police officer Shambhu Kumar Singh who arrested seven extremists including Anup. The team took the help of a technical cell to reach them.

Other than Anup, the arrested extremists are Sunil Oraon, Nandlal Munda, Arjun Manki, Chiranjivi Kumar Jha, Sanjay Bhuiyan and Birendra Oraon. Jha is a resident of Darbhanga but presently lives in Khalari of Ranchi.

Ranjan said during the interrogation of the arrested ones, they got the names of other members of the outfit. We are conducting raids to arrest them, he added.
