Daltonganj, Dec 27: A 42-year-old tribal man Kishun Birjiya survived the bite of the venomous bamboo pit viper while clearing grasses in the Jobhi Pani grassland in the South division of the Palamau Tiger Reserve (PTR), said the deputy director South division of the PTR Mukesh Kumar today.
He said the snake-bitten man was rushed by the PTR personnel to the Garu referral hospital where he was given anti-snake venom and thereafter he was referred to the Sadar hospital Latehar. Mukesh Kumar said the doctors have described his condition as stable.
Forest guard Bharat Mishra said the man was a daily wager and was clearing grasses in our grassland on Monday, December 26 when this green bamboo pit viper, which is very deadly, bit him on his right leg.
The man saw the snake and knew that it was a venomous snake and quite fast and swiftly this hay trusser was rushed to the referral hospital Garu.
Sources said locals have appreciated the concern of the PTR for this poor labourer.
Notably, Bamboo pit vipers are known as green snakes and these are in plenty in the tiger reserve.
