Chatra, August 1: Police today confirmed arresting a quack Jeetendra Kumar Yadav who runs a nursing home in Kunda block of the district and was wanted in a case related to performing two C-sections resulting in death of the two newly born babies. The action was taken against him after DC Abu Imran came to know about his misdeeds directing the Civil Surgeon to take strict action against Yadav as well as against nursing homes operating in the district in violation of the Jharkhand Clinical Establishment Act.

A police official of Kunda said they were looking for Yadav soon after an FIR was lodged against him on Sunday. They said raids started with Yadav nabbed from his native village Ghangri of Huntergunj block.

Yadav was running Mamata Nursing Home in Kunda without taking an NOC from the district administration. He performed two C-sections, one on July 24 and another on July 25. In both the operations, the two women, namely Manati Devi and Kiran Devi, lost their newly born baby. Taking cognizance of the incident, Imran ordered strict action.

In the probe, the team came to the startling facts that Yadav was a quack and also not having a registration number for his nursing home.

Kunda people said health facility is not proper in their block and health centres are run by ANMs. Condition is similar in all the blocks, they added.

Sources said in the entire district around 165 nursing homes are running which lacked registration and were termed illegal by the administration. Imran assured that strict action will be taken against such nursing homes in the coming days.
