Daltonganj, Aug. 7: Akansha Mishra, 25, a married woman from Ambikapur in  Chhattisgarh, would be handed over to the Surajpur police.

The Surajpur police are on their way to Daltonganj to take her back to Chhattisgarh.

It is alleged that Akansha got remarried here to Md Sajid of Gurha village under the Tarhassi police station.

It is also alleged her ‘Nikah’ was performed at the Bairya Chowk in Daltonganj on June 25 last.

During the ‘Nikah’, it is alleged her name was changed from Akansha Mishra to Zainab Khatoon. A Kazi of Chhaterpur is alleged to have conducted the Nikah.

There was a missing report about her lodged with the Surajpur police station in Chhattisgarh on June 26 a day after her ‘Nikah’ in Daltonganj.

The missing report was lodged by her husband Nitin Kumar Gupta. The woman has been recovered here in Palamu.

SP Reeshma Ramesan said today, “The Surajpur police have been asked to come over here and take hold of Akansha Mishra. We expect Surajpur police to be here in a few hours.”

As regards to the allegations of ‘Nikah’, change of name or faith etc all these will be investigated professionally and neutrally, said the SP.

The SP said police will investigate if the alleged action of the Gurha panchayat Mukhiya and Sachiv has any locus standi in this matter at all or do these two allegedly overstepped their limits.

The SP said that since the woman hails from Ambikapur in Chhattisgarh and the missing report about her is lodged with the Surajpur police so this case is fit enough to be handled only by the Surajpur police as we have found her out here.

Sajid used to run his transportation work at New Basti, Daree Para Ambikapur and Akansha Mishra too hailed from the same locality in Ambikapur.

The woman is pretty educated and does a job also. She looked almost cool and calm when she was under the protective care of the Town police.

The SP met her and her parents etc and took note of every detail of this episode.

Meanwhile, BJP MLA Shashibhushan Mehta has demanded stern action against Sajid who got her and married her perforce changing her name and faith.

The MLA has demanded action against the Mukhiya of the Gurha panchayat and panchayat Sachiv also for acts done by them beyond their power.

The BJP MLA said such an episode has a dangerous design and it has to be most firmly handled with the law of the land.
