Ranchi, March 22: Ranchi Civil Court on Tuesday has convicted Yogendra Sao and former MLA Nirmala Devi in the Chirudih shooting incident. Yogendra Sao has got a big setback due to this decision of the court.

On March 8, after the completion of the hearing on all the points related to this case in the court of Additional Commissioner of Ranchi Civil Court, Vishal Srivastava, had fixed March 22 i.e. today’s date for the decision. The prosecution has recorded the statements of 20 witnesses in the court to prove the charges against Yogendra Sao.

Seven witnesses have been presented on behalf of the accused Yogendra Sao, Nirmala Devi and Ankit Raj. An FIR was registered against Yogendra Sao under section 307 of IPC and other sections.

On the way to Chirudih mining, many people including Yogendra Sao were running the Shroud Satyagraha movement in 2016. Both the routes of NTPC’s mining area were blocked. Nirmala Devi was arrested in the Barkagaon case to restore law and order. But her supporters launched a deadly attack on the police force and rescued her, in which several officers were seriously injured.
