Ranchi, June 16: The Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP) on Thursday organised a week-long programme to commemorate the International Yoga Day, under the guidance of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, which will be held from June 16 to June 21. This year’s theme for the occasion is Yoga for Humanity.
In this sequence, the Yoga Week programme started with the address lecture of Dr. Basudeb Das, Director of CIP, while talking of the history of Yoga, its importance and utility in today’s era.
Later, the Satyanand Yoga Mission Ranchi, under the guidance of Sanyasi Mukt Rath ji, four Acharyas gave yoga training to the patients from the women and men branches, the staff and trainees of the institute. Around 300 people including Dr. Sanjay Kumar Munda, Dr. Suryavanshi, Dr. Chandrashekhar, Dr. Narendra, and Hari Om participated in the programme and practiced various poses of yoga and pledged to incorporate it into their daily life practice.
Several programmes are to be conducted at the weekly yoga camp, which will conclude with a workshop on June 21. Competitions such as essay competition on the theme of this year’s Yoga Day will be organised for patients, trainees and staff along with an awareness campaign which will be conducted on importance of yoga for patients and their families.
