Daltonganj, Jan 18: Civil surgeon Palamu Dr Anil Kumar today inspected the dialysis unit in the MMCH Daltonganj.

Speaking to lagatar24.com today, Dr Anil Kumar said the flow of renal failure patients in dire need of dialysis to this unit is quite poor.

He said just one male patient has come between January 3 and 17 and this patient has undergone dialysis 6 times.

Asked if patients are not aware of this dialysis facility in MMCH Daltonganj, the CS said he would be  writing to all the medical officers in charge of the community health centres to publicise this dialysis facility available in MMCH among their patients and visitors.

He said Jharkhand has Mukhyamantri Gambheer Beemari Upchar Yojna where renal transplant is to be covered and treated for  maximum up to 5 lakhs of rupees.

He said let our doctors in blocks and other remote areas spread this message of the dialysis unit in the MMCH Daltonganj which will be a big relief and comfort to the renal failure patients.

About the status of the dialysis machines, he said there are 3 machines here and all are functional.

The dialysis unit is located on the third floor of the MMCH Daltonganj and a patient in need of dialysis has to negotiate staircases which is a very arduous job.

“We have asked the lift management people to make the lift operational as soon as climbing staircases by any kidney patient is a tough trying time,” the CS said addressing the problem.

He agreed that passage of patients in need of dialysis should be of comfort and not of stress and strain, especially in climbing up and down the staircases.

Sources said the dialysis unit in MMCH Daltonganj does not do arteriovenous fistula and kidney patients in need of dialysis are asked to get it done in Ranchi only.

Civil surgeon said here at this dialysis unit no AV fistula is done and a patient in need of dialysis is to have it done in Ranchi only.

In AV fistula arteries and veins are joined for effective dialysis.

Apart from MMCH, there is just one dialysis unit in a private nursing home at Nawa Toli in Daltonganj.
