New Delhi, April 5: In light of the increasing number of Covid cases, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud stated on Wednesday that attorneys are free to appear virtually in court.
Newspaper reports, according to CJI Chandrachud, indicate that Covid cases are on the rise. If a lawyer wishes to appear digitally before the court, they can do so, and hybrid mode is also active.
The CJI said “We saw newspaper reports on rising Covid cases. Lawyers can use hybrid mode. If you choose to appear online, we will hear you.”
After considering the low infection incidence and the amount of Covid cases in Delhi and across the nation, the Supreme Court decided to resume adjudicating cases through physical hearings as of April 4, 2022.
The Supreme Court has long been experimenting with the hybrid hearing method, which combines physical and virtual hearings. Even after actual hearings resumed, the Supreme Court began live-streaming the Constitution bench proceedings via the Supreme Court app and YouTube.

In response to the growing number of Covid cases in India, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Monday that there was no need for concern because the Omicron sub-variant, which is currently widespread in the nation, has not resulted in an increase in hospitalisations.
To stop the virus from spreading, the minister advised being on guard and taking the appropriate precautions.
