Dharamshala, May 8: Khalistan flags were discovered tied to the main gate and boundary wall of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly in Dharamshala on Sunday morning.

On early Sunday morning, the Kangra police were told of the appearance of Khalistan flags on the gates. On the outskirts of Dharamshala, pro-Khalistan slogans were also seen on the walls of the assembly complex.

The incidence was confirmed by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Nipun Jindal. He stated that the police are searching CCTV footage from the surrounding regions in order to apprehend the perpetrators.

“Some miscreants had put up five to six Khalistani flags on the outer gate of the state legislative Assembly at Tapivan and had written Khalistan Zindabad slogans on the wall. The flags have been removed and the writings have been cleared. Police have registered a case and an investigation is in progress,” he said.

According to the police, it appeared to be the act of some Punjabi visitors, and a case will be filed. Jairam Thakur, the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, has denounced the incident. He also said that immediate action into the matter would be carried out.

“I condemn the cowardly act of putting up Khalistan flags at the gate of Dharamshala Assembly Complex. Only the Winter Session is held in this Assembly, so there’s a need for more security arrangements there during that time. The incident will be probed and strict action will be taken,” he twitted.
