Dhanbad, July 9: Rashtriya Colliery Mazdoor Union (RCMS), a major constituent unit of INTUC, lodged its protest over the proposal of selling 25% shares of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) and the delay in finagling the National Coal Wage Agreement of miners.
A delegation under RCMU National President Jaimangal Singh (MLA) met BCCL Chairman cum Managing Director (CMD) Samiran Dutta and handed over 21-point pending demands of miners for immediate implementation.
RCMU general secretary AK Jha said that the delegation also handed over a letter to the CMD for the union coal minister and asked him to convene the central government about the brewing resentment among the 2.98 lakh coal workers over the delay in finalizing coal wage fixation and proposal of selling 25% share of BCCL.
Jaimangal Singh alias Anup Singh also requested BCCL CMD to provide jobs to dependents of the deceased miners as per National Coal Wage Agreement (NCWA) guidelines and complete the process of providing a job within six months.
At the meeting with CMD, the RCMU delegation also demanded immediate jobs for the dependent of miners who were declared unfit and died during the service period. Brajendra Prasad Singh (INTUC vice-president) Ramprit Yadav, Santosh Mahto and others were the members of the delegation.
The RCMU president also expressed concern over the delay in compensation payment to Covid-19 victim miners and demanded Rs 15 lakh for each.
Secretary AK Jha said the delegation also requested BCCL CMD Samiran Dutta clear manpower budget of the company, pending promotion matter and policy for employment in outsourcing company deployed in BCCL.
