Commercial production in HURL Sindri to start by March 2022

Dhanbad, Oct 16: Hindustan Urvarak and Rasayan Limited (HURL) Sindri would start its commercial production in five months. The new Managing Director (MD) of HURL, Arun Kumar Gupta, said that the construction of the project is almost completed. Trial production will start in February 2022 and by March 2022 the plant will start its commercial production.

HURL, the joint venture of Coal India Limited (CIL), National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and Fertilizer Corporation of India Limited (FCIL), would produce 3850 MTs urea per day.

“Though due to Corona pandemic the project got delayed, we are moving ahead to complete the construction of the plant by early next year,” said Gupta.

HURL, the Rs 6500 crores project which has come up in place of FCI Sindri, was scheduled to be completed by March 2021. But the pandemic has delayed its completion by one year.

Rolling out development projects for Sindri, HURL’s new managing director said that the management has passed a proposal of Rs 40 crores plan to improve infrastructure in Sindri. He said that under the ‘Green Corridor’plan, 38000 plants are being planted in Sindri Township and 25000 in the outskirts.

“Officers have been directed to establish coordination with interested NGOs for achieving this mission,” said Gupta.

The HURL MD also said that he would focus on the skill development of youths of the region and he has already discussed with the Deputy Commissioner of Dhanbad, Sandip Singh about this matter. He informed that the drainage and roads of Sindri would also be renovated soon.
