Dhanbad, Aug 31: After the Panda Dharmrakshini Sabha, Congress MLA Dr Irfan Ansari and the president of different districts unit have protested the closure of Baba Baidyanath temple Deoghar by the state government.
Jamtara MLA Ansari has asked the government for the immediate opening of the temple in the interest of devotees as well as the people of Deoghar.
“Baba Baidyanath is a centre of faith for people of the country. Due to the Corona pandemic, all temples had been closed in the state. Now since Corona infection has come down, I am demanding from the government to open Baba Baidyanath temple,” said Ansari who returned from Delhi yesterday.
The firebrand Congress MLA said since chief minister Hemant Soren is out of the state, he (MLA) would talk with him after he returns from Delhi for the immediate opening of the temple for ‘Dharshan’ of general devotees.
Joining the temple opening agitation, Dhanbad district Congress president Brajendra Prasad Singh has shot off a letter to chief minister Hemant Soren to take an immediate decision over opening Baba Baidyanath temple.
Singh said Corona has come down and almost all institutions including schools and colleges in the state shave opened. In such a situation the temple should also be opened so that devotees can offer puja, he added.
“Every day thousands of devotees across the country reach Babadham. In Shrawan the figure crosses over lakh per day. Visit of devotees is a source of livelihood of traders and Panda Samaj. But the closure of the temple for last one and half years has pushed traders and Panda Samaj in penury,” said the Congress district president.
Notably, on Monday Panda Dharmrakshini Sabha, the frontal organization of Baba Baidyanth temple had called a day-long Deoghar bandh in protest.
