Ranchi, April 5: The marathon meeting of Jharkhand Congress held in New Delhi on Tuesday discussed plans to strengthen the party at the grassroots level where some important leaders were given responsibility for districts.

The meeting chaired by Jharkhand Congress in-charge Avinash Pande was attended by Jharkhand Congress president Rajesh Thakur, ministers Badal Patralekh, Banna Gupta and Alamgir Alam, MLA Dipika Pandey Singh and Bandhu Tirkey, former union minister Subodh Kant Sahay, former presidents Pradeep Balmuchu and Sukhdeo Bhagat, former spokesperson Alok Dubey among others. As many as 30 leaders participated in the meeting.

Under the decision taken Subodh Kant Sahay has been delegated with the responsibility of Saraikela-Kharsawan, Dipika Pandey Singh (Sahebganj), Bandhu Tirkey (Khunti), Sukhdeo Bhagat (Latehar). There are other leaders also who have been given responsibility for districts. All five working presidents have been given one district each where they will organize and strengthen the party.

“The party is going to launch a programme named as Zila Samvad evam Shashaktikaran Karyakram and this is going to start anytime after April 15 when the membership drive concludes. The idea is to strengthen the party. Earlier, we had held divisional level programmes, now it will be held at district and block level.

However, no contentious issues like fear of poaching on the legislative fold of the Congress by the BJP or the JMM besides differences with the government on policy issues like the formation of the state level coordination committee and the common minimum programme were discussed during the meeting.

“These things were not discussed during the meeting. It was focussed on the organization,” said a leader.
