New Delhi, Oct 3: The congress party on Monday revealed the guidelines for the election of the next president of the party, scheduled for October 17.

There is a tight fight between senior leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Shashi Tharoor for the  top job in the party. The party has called for extreme caution that no malicious campaign is used against any candidate as it would also bring shame to the party.

Kharge is seen as the party’s official candidate with the support of the Gandhi family, while Tharoor has said he supports the move.

As directed by the Central Election Authority, the Pradesh Returning Officer (PRO) acts as the Electoral Officer of each PCC and is responsible for maintaining order and fairness in the polling stations. completed. Further, delegates are free to choose between Mallikarjun Kharge and Shashi Tharoor during polling.

AICC general secretaries or in-charges, secretaries or joint secretaries, PCC presidents, CLP leaders, department heads and all spokespersons are not allowed to campaign on behalf of candidates, the guidelines said.

Kharge and Tharoor  visit states to garner voter support. State unit presidents cannot convene candidates, but have been asked to provide  meeting room, chairs and other equipment for  candidates who wish to hold meetings with PCC representatives.

Candidates are prohibited from using vehicles to transport voters during elections and from participating in objectionable campaigning or publishing propaganda.
