Dhanbad, April 16: Congress leader Suresh Chandra Jha and K.B. Singh was elected as the new President and General Secretary of Rashtriya Colliery Mazdoor Sangh (RCMS) central committee during the meeting held at Taldanga, Nirsa on Saturday.

Nagendra Singh was also unanimously elected as the treasurer. The general body has authorized the President to nominate other office-bearers of the Sangh.

Suresh Chandra Jha spoke to the media and said that the RCMS committee had been defunct after the resignation of President Jaymangal Singh alias Anup Singh (Bermo MLA) on March 27 at  Jamadoba Dhanbad. So today, the General Body has elected a new president and General Secretary.

Rashtriya Colliery Mazdoor Union (RCMU)  General Secretary A.K. Jha was not available to comment over the election of RCMS officials. However, a senior leader said that Suresh Chandra Jha’s group would not get recognition as Registrars of Bihar Trade Union and Jharkhand Trade Union have already suspended registration of RCMS due to factional feud.

Since Rajendra Singh, Chandrashekhar Dubey, Lalan Choubey and Tripathi groups have staked claim on RCMS, the Registrar, Trade Union Bihar had de-recognised it in 2017.

“Moreover, affiliation to trade unions in coal mines is given only on recommendation of the central body. Anup Singh is president of Indian National Mines Working Federation (INMWF) and he would definitely not give affiliation to Suresh Chandra Jha’s RCMS,” said the leader.

However, Suresh Chandra Jha has said that the process of making RCMU in place of RCMS by Anup Singh and AK Jha’s group was wrong. Such arbitrary decisions compelled the RCMS old guard and devoted members to elect a new president and general secretary.
