Ranchi, March 23:  The Jharkhand assembly proceedings were affected today as the Congress legislators made an uproar on the Surat court’s order to convict party MP Rahul Gandhi for two years.

Congress party legislator Pradeep Yadav raised the issue saying that the BJP has strangled democracy and made an attempt to snatch the freedom of expression in the country. Terming it a dictatorial approach, he said ‘BJP ki Hitlershahi Nahi Chalegi (Hitlershahiship of BJP will not work)’.

As Yadav raised the issue, the other Congress MLAs came into the well and started creating ruckus. On the other hand, the BJP MLAs also came to the well and started raising slogans that Rahul Gandhi Chor Hai (Rahul Gandhi is a thief).

Following uproar, the Speaker adjourned the proceedings of the House till 12:30 pm.

The Court convicted Gandhi in a criminal defamation case against him over his alleged Modi surname remark (Sare Modi Chor hain). The court convicted him under section 504 of IPC.
