New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi extended greetings on Constitution Day and said that the Constitution is not merely a book but a sacred promise made to every citizen of India, guaranteeing equality, dignity and justice regardless of religion, caste, language, region or economic status.

Constitution as Shield of the Poor

In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi described the Constitution as the protective armour of the poor and marginalised and the voice of every citizen. He said that as long as the Constitution is safe, the rights of every Indian remain safe. Pledging to stand firmly against any attack on the Constitution, he added that protecting it is his duty and he will be the first to stand in defence whenever it is threatened.

Leaders Across Parties Mark Constitution Day

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also wished the nation on Constitution Day and paid tribute to the members of the Constituent Assembly. He said the Constitution grants equal opportunity, dignified life, national duties and rights to every citizen, paving the way for nation-building. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and several other leaders also extended their wishes. Constitution Day commemorates November 26, 1949, when the Constituent Assembly formally adopted the present Constitution of India.
