Hazaribag, Dec 16: As many as 43 third-grade contractual workers of Indira Gandhi Awasiya Balika Vidyalaya on Friday gathered near the school’s entrance gate to protest after they were removed from their job. Seeing the brewing tension, a large posse of policemen was deployed in the school.

One of the workers said they were working here since August after clearing an interview. “We joined the school through GMD company, an outsourcing firm. But now when we came here today, we were not allowed to make attendance and were asked to leave the premises immediately,” he said.

According to the workers, incharge principal Kumari Indu is behind this decision. They demanded action against her and also their job back.

However, the incharge principal, when contacted, said it was not her decision to remove the staff. “The governing body of the school found some technical error in their recruitment. So they recommended their removal which was approved by the education department as well,” she added.

The workers said they don’t want to hear about any technical errors. “We have nothing to do with this technical error. It is better if the governing body, education department and GMD outsourcing company do whatever they want but we want our job back,” they added.
