Convocation is stage and not destination, says Jharkhand Governor

Sai Nath University holds 8th Convocation with Health Minister, Legislative Assembly Speaker and Governor as guests

Ranchi, Jan 24: Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais on Tuesday said convocation is an important academic milestone. He further stressed that it is only a stage, not the destination; and motivated the students to choose the right path along with the right approach in life by giving them tips to move forward in life. The governor was addressing students at the 8th Convocation Ceremony held at Sai Nath University.

Furthermore, referring to the achievements and efforts of the university, the governor said that the students of Sai Nath University have made their mark at the national level. 

“Following the New Education Policy, Sain Nath University, which has made its place among the leading universities of the country, is imparting teaching training to the students through advanced academic curriculum, practical approach and modern research, based teaching-learning method,” the governor added.

Commending the efforts of the university, Governor Bais said, “The B.Ed students of the University are rendering their services as teachers in Sainik Vidyalaya, Kendriya Vidyalaya and major schools run in the state. The role of the students of this university in the field of sports is commendable, more than 50 students have made their mark at the national and international level.”

Legislative Assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato expressed hope that the students getting degrees will now provide leadership to society with their talents in their respective fields of work. At the same time, the Speaker while addressing the students said, “You should always have the desire and longing to learn.” He urged students to adopt humility and morality in life and suggested that they never stop learning about things.

Minister of Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Banna Gupta while addressing the students stated that the Assembly Speaker has a BEd degree. He further wondered that in order to become a teacher, BEd is needed, and to become a professor Med is a must. However, no such degree is necessary to become an education minister or health minister.  

The minister further guided the students, and while congratulating the degree holders at the convocation ceremony said that talent, determination and hard work play a big role in getting an education. He further called upon students to find ways for the progress of the people on the strength of technology.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof (Dr) S P Agrawal reviewed the achievements of the University in the past years and the vision of the University to become a world-class institution. He further congratulated the Diploma, Undergraduate, Postgraduate and PhD degree holders and said that the University is set to provide quality education and prepare the students to face the challenges of the global society. He encouraged the students to strengthen their networking and communication abilities, develop relevant skills from time to time, think like an entrepreneur and develop leadership qualities.

The convocation ceremony saw 1200 Diploma, Undergraduate, Postgraduate and PhD students of three sessions held between 2018 and 2021 get their degrees. Of these, 60 students each were given Gold,

Silver and Bronze medals. Along with this, 25 Gold medals were awarded to students who have made remarkable contributions in specific fields.
