New Delhi, June 2: AAP leader Manish Sisodia was granted temporary reprieve in the Delhi excise policy case when he was permitted to visit his unwell wife from 10 am to 5 pm on June 3 while in custody.
The medical records of Sisodia’s wife must be provided by tomorrow to the Delhi High Court, which was hearing his request for interim bail. Sisodia’s wife is suffering from multiple sclerosis, a potentially disabling disease of the brain and central nervous system.
However, Sisodia won’t be permitted to meet with anyone except his family members. He will also not be permitted to access the internet or communicate with the media.
Manish Sisodia requested temporary release on bail due to his wife’s failing health. The court today reserved its order on the bail plea.
Three days ago, the Delhi High Court denied Sisodia’s request for bail on the grounds that the accusations were severe.
The CBI detained Sisodia on February 26 in connection with the Delhi Liquor Policy case. After lengthy questioning at Tihar Jail on March 9, the ED arrested Manish Sisodia in connection with the same case.
The liquor policy was put into place by the Delhi government on November 17, 2021, however, it was scrapped at the end of September 2022 due to suspicions of corruption.
The CBI and Enforcement Directorate are looking into allegations of corruption and money laundering against the senior AAP politician.
