New Delhi, Oct 26: The Technical Advisory Group of the World Health Organization (WHO) is going to meet today and come to a final decision whether to grant Emergency use Listing to Bharat Biotech’s Covid vaccine, Covaxin or not.

Covaxin manufacturer, Bharat Biotech, has been continuously submitting data to WHO and additional info at the UN Public Health Agency’s request on September 27. Experts were reviewing this information and if it addresses all questions raised, WHO assessment will be finalized.

WHO Chief Scientist Soumya Swaminathan said that the Technical Advisory Group will meet on 26 October to give emergency use approval to Covaxin. WHO is working very closely with Bharat Biotech to make this vaccine. The purpose of WHO is to make vaccines easily accessible to the population of the world.

“we are a responsible company, whose all the vaccines made so far have got approval. We are working closely with WHO to get emergency use approval as soon as possible. If Covaxin gets the approval, then Indian tourists traveling by applying this vaccine will be able to get entry in other countries”, said Bharat Biotech.

So far, WHO has included six vaccines in its list of emergency use vaccines. These are – Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, SII-AstraZeneca, Sinofarm and Sinovac.
