Covid-19 active cases drop below 1000 mark in Ranchi

Ranchi, Feb 5: The capital city of Jharkhand continued to report more recoveries than new Covid-19 cases, bringing the active caseload to 992.

After 31 December 2021, for the first time the total active Covid-19 caseload came under 1,000-mark. The active cases touched the 1,277 mark on January 1 when the third wave of Covid-19 was picking up.

According to the bulletin released by the Ranchi District administration on Friday, 199 patients were declared as recovered, while 99 new Covid-19 cases were reported.

No causality was reported in the last 24 hours in the district. On Thursday, 243 patients were declared as recovered, while 128 new cases were reported.

The state reported 708 recoveries with no casualties against 507 cases of new infections further bringing down the number of active cases in the state to 3,055. Ranchi has the highest number of casualties among the districts at 1,606, since the beginning of the pandemic.

As many as 55,259 samples were tested in the state, of which 708 turned positive indicating a positivity rate of 1.28%. The cumulative Covid-19 cases in the state reached 4,30,803 of whom 4,22,440 have recovered and 5,308 died indicating a recovery rate of 98.05% and mortality rate of 1.23%.
