Jamshedpur, Aug 9: A news of relief for Steel City
Only two positive cases of Covid-19 was reported in steel city on Sunday while Saturday saw only three cases.
Sunday’s two cases were reported from Mango and Sidhgora while on Saturday one case each was reported from Bagbera, Mango and Sundernagar.
No cases were reported from rural areas of East Singhbhum. There were also no Covid related casualties during the past one week.
The Tatanagar railway station also failed to report any positive cases on Saturday and Sunday.
Covid tests are conducted through RT-PCR, Rapid Antigen Test and Trunet.
Data available from the district health department revealed that three Covid patients recovered and were released from the hospital on Saturday while two patients recovered from the deadly virus on Sunday.
No fresh admission of Covid patients was reported in Tata Main Hospital, MGM Medical College and Hospital and other hospitals of the city during the past two days.
The number of active cases was reduced to 22 in the district.
Data suggests that East Singhbhum reported total cases of 51,805 of which 50,737 patients have recovered so far. East Singhbhum district so far witnessed 1,057 Covid related casualties.
The recovery rate in the district is 97.92 per cent while the death rate is 2.04 per cent.
Meanwhile, the vaccination drive is going on in both urban and rural centres for the last few days following the arrival of 4000 Covaxin shots from Ranchi.
On Saturday 13,976 people got their jabs in the district while on Sunday 5,629 people were vaccinated.
Health department officials said vaccination in various urban and rural centres would continue on Monday.
While urban centres would administer the vaccine to those in the age group of 18 to 44 and above, the rural centres would focus vaccination on the 18 plus age group.
Two rural centres would also offer vaccination through the walk-in mode.
District surveillance officer Sahir Pal said that the vaccination drive would continue and that they were expecting the arrival of more vaccine doses from Ranchi.
Meanwhile, concerned over the threat of third-wave Occupational Safety and Health Association of Jharkhand ( OSHAJ ) since Sunday started an awareness drive against Covid by distributing pamphlets at various public places.
The outfit in association with various city-based Gurudwaras has also started distribution of dry rations among frontline workers.
