Ranchi, Jan 9: The third wave of coronavirus has delayed the work of making caste certificates in schools of Jharkhand which was scheduled to begin after December 29 last year. Chief Minister Hemant Soren had given instructions for the same in early December. The module to start the process of making caste certificates in schools from January 10 had been set.
Despite this, the possibility of starting it within the next two weeks is incomprehensible due to the rampant spread of Covid and the subsequent action of closing schools till January 15.
According to the sources, the date to begin the procedure for making caste certificates will be decided after the schools reopen. The government has taken the decision to make caste certificates in the schools itself to make it convenient for students, believing that providing caste certificates to children in schools might help them in future.
In the meeting of officials from the Personnel, School Education and IT Department, it was decided that the form for Caste Certificates would be filled by the children in schools itself. The form will be verified through the school management committee confirming the caste of the child. It will be the responsibility of the committee to work on caste verification. Forms will then be given to the Pragya Kendras located in the Panchayats. Pragya Kendra will send the form to the CO office after completing the online application process. The CO office will provide the caste certificates to the schools.
The total number of schools in the state is 35000. Of these, around 14 thousand schools that provide classes for VI to 12th, which were open and are likely to open earlier than others. The total number of Panchayats in the state is 4500 and the number of Pragya Kendras is 18000. Hence, there are about three Pragya Kendras in each panchayat, where the caste certificate forms of the respective schools will be submitted.
