Hazaribag, Nov 30: Area commander of the Communist Party of India (Maoists), Kamlesh Yadav on Wednesday surrendered before the Chatra police, officials of the 190 battalion of CRPF, Deputy Commissioner Abu Imran and Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan at the district Collectorate. Yadav was a member of the squad headed by Maoists’ special area committee member Gautam Paswan.
SP Ranjan urged all extremists to surrender and take advantage of the ‘Nayi Disha’ surrender policy of the state government.
Yadav said he surrendered due to exploitation in the outfit. He said he was fed up with this and wanted to return to the mainstream and lead a normal life with his family. “State government’s surrender policy has also encouraged me to surrender,” he added.
A resident of Pratappur in Chatra, Yadav joined the outfit in 2014 and was wanted in around eight cases of violence and Arms Act lodged in different police stations of Palamu and Chatra.
Before joining the outfit, Maoista daily wage labourer working in Sirsa of Haryana. “I had purchased a disputed land and so Maoists leaders assured me of solving this issue if I joined them. I fell into their trap and joined the outfit getting elevated as area commander,” he added.
