Dhanbad, Sept 27: Some bike-borne criminals on Monday lobbed hand grenades on Kia Motors’ showroom at interstate GT Road (NH-2) under Barbadda police station. One car (Seltos) parked on the campus of the showroom was damaged in the incident.

Suman Kumar, the officer-in-charge of the Barbadda police station, told the media that the incident happened at about 11.30 a.m. Two crooks on a motorcycle threw two hand grenades into the Kia Motors showroom on GT Road. Criminals wearing masks were making their way towards Govindpur from Kisan Chowk. They slowed their bike near the road divider, hurled the bombs into the campus and rushed away.

Dhanbad city Superintendent of Police (SP) Ram Kumar, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Manoj Swargyari, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)  Amar Kumar Pandey, and officers in-charge of Barbadda and Govindpur police stations reached the spot and began an investigation as soon as they received the information of bombing. According to officials, the crooks’ act was caught on camera by a CCTV camera, and an investigation is underway to apprehend them.

Owner of the showroom and famous industrialist, Deepak Sawaria told media that two weeks ago he received a threatening call for extortion in the name of the dreaded Aman Singh gang for the second time. “Six months ago, members of the same gang had demanded extortion for the first time and threatened my life if I failed to cough up,” added Sawaria.

Deepak and his brother Sunil Sawaria have been provided security by the district police administration after this incident.
