Dhanbad, Aug 5:  Criminals looted Rs 2.5 lakh of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Abhishek Singh after breaking the window of his car in Housing Colony under Sadar police station on Thursday afternoon.

A police official said the incident happened around 1 pm. The JMM leader after withdrawing Rs 5 lakh from the City Centre-based Axis Bank branch put up the bag containing Rs 2.5 lakh on the back seat of his car after giving Rs 2.5 lakh to his friend.

While returning home he parked his car on the main road of Housing Colony to meet a friend. As he returned a few minutes later he found the window of the car completely broken and the bag containing money was missing.

Abhishek Singh immediately informed the Dhanbad police station about the incident. The Officer-in-charge of Dhanbad Sadar police station, Vinay Kumar, reached the spot and began the investigation. “  Entire incident has been captured in the CCTV camera and the criminal would be caught soon “, he said. In the CCTV camera, a criminal is seen removing the glass of the car.

In the last 24 hours, this was the third cash loot incident in Dhanbad. On Wednesday afternoon, bike-borne criminals snatched Rs 1.5 lakh from two women under Jorapokhar police station while returning home from their respective banks.

Bike-borne criminals first snatched Rs 1 lakh cash from Surjit Kar in Jamadova  Dumri 4 number when she was returning home after withdrawing money from the bank. The second incident happened in Digwadih area.  Champa Mandal had withdrawn Rs 50,000 from SBI Digwadih branch for repairing her house.  As she reached near Royal School Jorapokhar bike-borne criminals all of a sudden appeared and snatched her carry bag containing Rs 50,000. Both lodged FIRs in the Jorapokhar police station.
