Ranchi, Dec 9: Bhartiya Bhasha Divas (Bhartiya Bhasha Utsav) was commemorated at the Central University of Jharkhand on Friday with a seminar on the topic ‘Indian languages in the context of reciprocity and unity’. Along with this, students also recited poetry in several Indian languages on the occasion.
People at the university taught each other easy words in Indian languages including Hindi, Tamil, Santhali, Kudukh Ho, Malayalam, Magahi, Bengali, Odia, Kannada, Sanskrit and Telugu. Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Kshiti Bhushan Das described it as a visionary effort by the Government of India for national integration.
The first Chancellor of Dr Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa, Bihar, Prof Dr Prafulla Kumar Mishra was the main speaker at the seminar. She discussed his efforts for the last thirty-five years toward languages. Prof B P Sinha, Director, Department of Mass Communication, Ranchi University underlined the importance of language and emphasized on encouraging teaching and learning in regional languages.
Dr Sudhanshu Shekhar in his address presented the diversity of languages as a need of society and suggested some ways to save the vanishing vocabulary and language. Dr Jagdish Saurabh discussed saving the languages as well as making them inclusive. Dr Upendra recited Dr Subramanya Bharti’s poem while introducing the purpose of Bhartiya Bhasha Utsav.
Dr Rajnikant Pandey from CUJ’s Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat; Dr Upendra Satyarthi, and Dr Pragya Shukla from National Service Scheme were present on the occasion along with Dr Shivendra Prasad, Assistant Registrar of Official Language Cell. Prof R K Dey, Prof Manoj Kumar, Dr Sucheta Sen, Dr Rabindranath Sharma, Dr Mayank Ranjan, Dr Prabhudev Kurle, Dr Subhash Baitha along with professors, officers, employees and students also participated in the programme.
