Ranchi, May 24: The Central University of Jharkhand organized a Photography Competition-cum- exhibition in Brambe Campus, inviting students from all disciplines to showcase their artistic talents through the lens. The exhibition is organized by the Department of Mass Communication in collaboration with the Department of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Government of Jharkhand, Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board (JSPCB) and Centre for Environment and Energy Development (CEED).
The theme of the competition-cum- exhibition was Environmental issues such as Air, Soil and Water Pollution and its solution. The competition was open to all the students of CUJ.
The event was inaugurated by Prof. Arvind Chand Pandey, Dean, School of Natural Sciences and Prof. Sanjoy Kumar Samadarshi, Head, Department of Energy Engineering. They were accompanied by Dr Vimal Kishor, Dean, School of Mass Communication and Media Technology, Prof. Bhagwan Singh, Dean, School of Management Sciences and Dr D.B. Lata, Department of Energy Engineering. During the program CEED outreach department representatives Ms. Laxmi Purty and Rana Abhishek Singh were also present.
After analyzing the photographs, the guests recorded their remarks and said that the participants were full of creativity and critical outlook. Competition like this will help and guide them in their future endeavours and think about the environment. Prizes were distributed to the participants.
Arjun Manjhi, Department of Mass Communication, Sujata Kumari, Department of Environmental Sciences and Bhavya Bharti, Department of Mass Communication got the first, second and third prizes respectively. Consolation prizes were also given to Aaryan Pratap Singh and Nikita Anand. There were altogether 25 entries from different departments of the university. Around one hundred photographs were showcased highlighting the environmental problems and solutions.
The program was convened by Dr Sudarshan Yadav and Dr Amrit Kumar, assistant professor, Department of Mass Communication, CUJ. During the program faculties of the department Dr Rajesh Kumar (coordinator), Ms Rashmi Verma were also present. The event was successful in terms of audience reception. All the non-teaching staff, research scholars and students were also present.
