CUJ students to showcase photography, film-making skills in film festival

Ranchi, Oct.28: Photography and film-making skills of mass communication students of Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) will be showcased during the 4th Jharkhand International Film Festival and Awards.

CUJ is officially partnering with the 4th Jharkhand International Film Festival and Awards 2021 for this purpose.

Altogether 100 photographs of present students and alumni of the Department of Mass Communication will be put. The photographs selected are from various themes.

The students whose photographs are selected are Rajat Raj, Ankit Raj, Kumar Aryan, Manish Shukla, Alok Kumar Pandey, Shubhangi Priya, Avinash Tirkey, and Prabhakar Mani. They all have their own style and signatures to capture life and life forms.

The selected photographers got awards during different events. Like works of Rajat Raj got Gold Medal in All India Youth Fest- Photography Contest. Works of Manish Shukla are internationally recognised.

Abhay Raj is giving his editing inputs to national and international TV channels like National Geographic. Prabhakar Mani is at present working with Xavier Institute, Bhubaneshwar and many more.

Apart from these, around 10 student production films would be screened. Most of the films are shortlisted and awarded in different film festivals. These films are mostly one-minute short films to almost 15-minute documentaries. Prominent film festivals and awards where these films got nominations and awards are: National Science Film Festival, Vatavaran Award, One Minute Pune International Film Festival, Jharkhand Children’s Film Festival, All India Short Film Contest and many more.

These photographs could be seen all through the day on 29th and 30th Oct. 2021 in the CUJ Exhibit area of Audrey House premises, Ranchi.

 The photography and film screening of the students would be inaugurated on Oct. 29 at 11:30 by Prof. Ajai Kumar Singh, Chief Proctor of Central University of Jharkhand. He will be accompanied by Prof. Dev Vrat Singh of the Department of Mass Communication. The members of the organizing committee of JIFFA, Rishi Prakash Mishra, Akash Sinha, Dr. Arif Butt and other persons would also be there.

This event for CUJ is being coordinated by Dr. Sudarshan Yadav, Assistant Professor, Department of Mass Communication, Central University of Jharkhand. He said that this is a great start that students’ works are being showcased through separate sections during the International Film Festival of Jharkhand. This would lead to a great future for the visual communication students of Jharkhand.
